In this painting you see an elegant woman, she radiates calm and contentment. Singh found the inspiration for this woman in Indian fashion photography. The woman looks with a certain gaze, she appears self-confident and at the same time lovely. She wears jewellery and a splendidly decorated shawl, which is inspired by Indian as well as European patterns. It stands for the figure's attachment to tradition. Such patterns are found in many traditional garments of different cultures. In contrast, the blazer stands for the modern woman. It is not only the clothing that makes it clear that the woman has many facets, but also the two colourful shadows that accompany her. These are typical of Singh's painting and stand for the many identities that accompany one but are not visible. For example, she could be a businesswoman and equestrian athlete. Also typical of Singh's works is the background, which symbolises the inner being of the figure. The white horse represents strength, speed, majestic beauty, devotion and at the same time sensitivity and vulnerability. The woman and the horse are surrounded by sky-like blue, which reinforces the impression of a dream world, an inner world.

Serena Singh embodies color and texture, and leaving no space on her canvas, as she paints for her audience, a medley of vibrant tones! Born in Basel, Switzerland, Serena connected with drawing at an early age as she was fascinated by the image of the human figures. In her latest works she explores the topic of „identity“ and „self-discovery“ and takes a critical look at the individualism of today’s society. The painted subjects often have one or more shadows. These stand for the aura and the different identities that a person assumes in society. The colors in Singh's vivid paintings are inspired by her swiss-indian upbringing. She mixes most colours with a base tone of white, providing the paintings with a "retro look". It also reinforces the aesthetics of a dream world in which the characters live and gives her paintings their distinctive look. The young artist enjoys collectors in almost all of Europe, the USA and the United Arab Emirates, also because her popularity at art auctions. Her works have already been exhibited in Switzerland, France and Dubai and next her paintings will be shown in London. Serena was a student at the School of Art Basel and holds a BA in Visual and Corporate Communication from the Academy of Fashion and Design in Munich, Germany.
