Carrefour is part of a larger collection of work exposing the invisible power dynamics that exists within relationships, and the cost that comes with not holding space for yourself within these interpersonal dynamics. With all work I make, my hope is for the viewer to connect with it on their own terms .... To feel or think anything is good. It was the medium that inspired most of Living, Assisted. The quilts are composed of my to-do list I saved during positions I had assisting others. It was these to-do list that felt like they were taking over my life, leaving no space for me to exists outside of them. For me, caring for others has taken up a large portion of my life. It was easy...until it wasn't. This show is a story of confronting may own patterns that kept me from growing, breaking them in order to reconnect to myself....and eventually and continulaly grow into the person I know is my truth. The Carrefour quilt represents my breaking point, the truth I had to see in order to move through and take ownership of my future. Carrefour is a crossroads. my moment of truth, and knowing it was time to either step into the unknown or step back into old patterns that had kept hold of me for too long. I choose Quilts because they are composed of patterns. Within the pattern a story is woven. A story of a life. For me there was no other choice once I saw it in my head.
